KEITH WARRICK has often been described as a Renaissance man. He is an educator (with BA and MA degrees including a degree in Art Education), poet, philosopher, author, lecturer, social justice advocate, athlete, adventurer, and an accomplished artist. His varied interests in life are reflected in his art. He has learned to work comfortably in several mediums. Having studied the masters, and developing a keen appreciation for a variety in art, his work displays several creative and unique styles from realistic and Impressionism to abstract and contemporary. Warrick wants to create more than common “designer art,”He wants very much to communicate more of life to the viewer. Sometimes the message is a simple theme of life’s imperfections and inner struggles. Other times it is a reflection of the themes, complexities, and beauty found in nature. “I don’t paint or draw to appeal to the masses, “ he says, “I paint and draw to communicate my subconscious feelings and the experiences of my past and present. Some of my work is a process of experimentation creating new and original techniques, playing on themes of texture, balance and contrast. Other times the focus of my art is to teach, challenge, and awaken in the viewer something of him or herself. I want the viewer to feel the intensity, impatience, and frustration in some pieces, and the simplicity, serenity, and calming beauty in others.” Warrick is originally from Minnesota, where he studied with local artists, but has lived in San Diego for several years since. He has belonged to several art organizations and associations. His work has been exhibited in many juried shows and one person exhibits. He has done several freelance and commissioned pieces. He has donated much of his art to non-profit institutions.
