Dora Chen

Dora Chen

Chiou-sen Dora Chen was born in China, came to the U.S. from Taiwan as a graduate student and has made her home in this country since then.  Before she moved from New Jersey to San Diego, she also resided in Singapore for 10 years and in Shanghai for a year.  She feels at home in both the East and the West.  It is her privilege to have the opportunity to know both worlds so well, thus she can have the best of two worlds.

East meets West is also reflected in Dora’s art work.  She had extensive training in Chinese brush painting, but also took many lessons in Western art.  After years of learning and practicing, Dora has developed her own unique and refreshing style by combining traditional Chinese brush painting tranquility with contemporary Western art free spirit.  Her art truly reflects the modern version of fusion.

Dora’s paintings have been exhibited in Singapore, New Jersey, San Francisco and San Diego. They are collected by art lovers in China, Japan, Singapore and around the United States. Since she joined the Southwestern Artists Association with a gallery located in the San Diego Balboa Park, her art works are now also in the collection of many international visitors from around the world.  She believes art should be pleasant and charming and hopes her work may bring joy and beauty to collectors’ lives.
