Being a painter and an installation artist gives me a rare opportunity to approach these two genres differently. My art installations are large, complex and can easily occupy half of the room. Conversely, the paintings and collages that I make are relatively small, – (private in a way) and often invite a close look. The subject of my works is always Nature, whether it is obvious or not. Not details, but rather nuances and delicacy, the mood rendered through lines and colors, the power of hues combined with the subtlety of the drawing are the leading principles of my works on paper. As Walt Whitman once said: “…Simplicity is the Glory of Expression…” It is through that expressive simplicity I am trying to achieve balance, harmony, and, hopefully, beauty.
